Develop a sense of trust and safety

Unhealed trauma – be it an emotional shock or a physical injury – is stored in our nervous systems. When these wounds are left untended, they turn into felt sensations, emotional reactions, and thoughts. Our nervous systems adapt patterns to keep us safe, and we simply can’t convince them to change…until we tend the wounds. By developing an awareness of our physical sensations and the associated emotions, we can slowly shift our way of responding to our circumstances.  Inspired by Dr Stephen Porges Polyvagal Theory and Deb Dana’s Rhythm of Regulation clinical practises.

Work with a compassionate guide

Once we’ve developed a sense of safety in working together, we’ll address the unconscious stories that show up as habitual patterns and reactions.  We’ll access forgotten memories, address underlying beliefs and their origins, and explore the possibility of letting these stories go. By slowly and mindfully accessing stories, I’ll support you in revealing the underlying cause of behaviours, reactions and perceptions. This approach is based on Compassionate Inquiry, Dr Gabor Maté’s transformational approach to integrating trauma.

Explore through a spiritual lens

We are more that our physical experience. By accessing non-ordinary states of consciousness, we give ourselves permission to explore meaning, creativity, and wisdom. Based on the practices of Core Shamanism, Transpersonal Psychology, and systems view of life, this form of spiritual counselling is not bound to any specific cultural group or perspective. The approach teaches clients to alter their consciousness so that they can discover their own hidden spiritual resources and transform their lives. This element of my approach explores the power of unconditional love and our connection to nature.

Andrea Wood is a Transformational Coach based in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

Drawing on training in therapeutic modalities and energy healing, I work with individuals and teams to understand how emotions show up as physical sensations. My therapeutic goal is to support people in finding a sense of ease and unconditional love in the world.

After almost two decades developing marketing strategy for corporations and startups, I discovered a unique skill: the ability to create a calm space for emotional expression and exploration. I took that as a cue, and embarked on a journey to learn more about facilitating these sessions safely and compassionately.

Now, I leverage my strategic skills to build coaching programs that address trauma, increase emotional and physical awareness, integrate wounds, and explore consciousness & spirituality.
